Life is like a song

Als kleinen Bonus für den Badlgraben-Cache noch schnell hier mit the_muggle vorbeigeschaut.
Die Stürme im Jänner und März haben ein ganz schönes Schlachtfeld hinterlassen!! Sogar die Cachelocation ist ein wenig in Mitleidenschaft gezogen worden. Der Box geht´s aber gut!

Die Rätsel waren mit Unterstützung von Yahoo & Co. gut lösbar und auch das Versteck war recht schnell gefunden. Bin dann noch etwas höher gekraxelt, um den  versprochenen Blick auf den Cryptocache zu erhaschen, aber das war leider ein Schuß in den Ofen. Ich nehme an, es lag daran, daß sich das Ding zu dem Zeitpunkt genau in der untergehenden Sonne befunden hat.

Übrigens, ihr Architektur-Banausen: Dieses Etablissement am Wegrand ist ein Bildstock und keine Kapelle.

Cache Nr. 3 am heutigen Tag und die dritte (Regen-) Dusche :) Aber wer ein echter Outdoorsportler sein will muss da durch obwohl es saumäßig nass war :)

Das Rätsel hatten wir ja schon vor einiger Zeit gelöst. Da wir heute in der Nähe unterwegs waren, bot sich dieser Cache hervorragend an.
Kurzfristig hatte es zu regnen aufgehört und wir dachten einen günstigen Moment erwischt zu haben, aber leider wieder vom Regen erwischt. Sehr schöne Cachelokation!

Vor langer Zeit fehlerhaft gelöst, in der Wildnis des Stübinggrabens erfolglos rumgesucht. Danach von Bastard D. die korrekten Koordinaten bekommen und heute endlich abgeholt. Bei der Kapelle geparkt und im letzten Sonnenlicht zum Cache gewandert. Dem Cache gehts noch gut, alerdings hat die Dose schon einige Dellen und Löcher - eventuell sollte man sie austauschen bevor der Winter kommt.

Da ich kürzlich eine der "Life is like a song" limited edition CDs aus einem ganz fremden cache holte, bei guter Musik die Rätsel rasch gelöst. Beinahe zu rasch, doch Erfahrung trieb uns (glücklicherweise) zur Anfrage beim owner.
Dank j_blue konnten wir diesen Rätselcache mit richtigen coords bei der ersten Anfahrt schaffen!

As at the moment I have not much freedom of choice in selecting caches which I am able to do, I was glad that j_blue has recently hidden another cache not too far from Graz. The fact that the hideout has been moved to a easier reachable and findable spot was a further asset.

I needed to look up the answers to every single question - so the negative record is definitely mine. If your like to beat records, you will need to try it from the other side of the spectrum and be able to answer all questions on the spot. The ability to answer the questions does not seem to a be matter of age as I am bit younger than Dr Torque, but older than the other cachers who have searched for the cache so far.

In retrospect I did not select the optimal starting point for this cache. My choice was influenced by the fact that I knew a place where to park my car when approaching the cache from the Western side. Moreover, I wanted to have a walk of moderate length as well and I do not like to drive on narrow, bad streets. I followed up a path which I had selected on the map, but I had to pass by a farmer's house (my attempt to circumvent this part in the forest did not work due to so many cattle fences - there is a dog guarding the house, but it seems to be a friendly dog). The ascent was somewhat strenous for several reasons: First my physical condition at the moment is bad. Second, it was quite hot and humid and I sweated a lot. And third, I did not take the right turn shortly after the farmer's house and to walk up a rather narrow and steep path. This sort of approach deserves at least the rating 2.5*. (On the other hand, there are waiting some raspberries to be found and eaten as reward if you come in the right season.)

I was very glad when I finally reached the marked hiking trail leading northwards and also in the direction where I wanted to go. Now the distance to the cache was not long any more and I was quite relieved. I found the cache box very quickly. It is still in good condition, but I am not sure whether it will survive a cold Winter that well.

The area above the target area is rather impressive. In my condition today I refrained from exploring the area, however. I have never been there before. I guess that the original hideout was somewhere up there.

On my return way I followed the marked hiking trail a little bit longer until I met the chapel (I did not pass it on my way up and also had forgotten to take its coordinates with me). From the chapel one has indeed a very nice view. The way I took downwards until the farmer's house was more comfortable than the one I took upwards, but I had to slip through under a fence at the very beginning to be able to use that path (I had not enough motivation to go back to the point where the path I came up meets the marked trail - moreover that very path would not have been comfortable for me to walk down). The rest of the walk back to my car went smoothly.

There are certainly better ways to approach this cache than the one I selected. One would be to follow the marked trail which I met only in the very end of my hunt right from the beginning (in this way the walk becomes, however, longer).
Another one might be to start from an inn which can be found on the map. A third one might be to drive up to the chapel - this seems to be what Dr Torque has done. The road up there does not look attractive, however, to me for driving it up.


Thanks j_blue for motivating to have a walk which I enjoyed, but would not have gone for given my current level of fitness (or rather non-fitness ) without a special target waiting for me.

This is a nice cache. Although my personal preference as music is regarded, is rather different, I liked the cache and also the challenge to choose one's own approach (which would not exist if parking coordinates were given). I have, however, never so far regarded life as a song.

Sodala, beim zweiten Anlauf doch noch geschafft! Wo auch immer das erste Versteck war (ich bin überzeugt von fehlerhaften Koordinaten (100m Off!), nach j_blue's Beschreibung), dieses ist besser, leichter zu erreichen und nicht zu verfehlen!
Schöner Cache und nette Rätsel, die mir aber keinerlei Probleme bereitet haben (Internet musste nur für 2 Fragen aktiviert werden).
Dr. Torque muss sich jetzt zwar leider hinten anstellen was den FTF betrifft, allerdings habe ich dafür die beiden Cd's drinnen gelassen, um den nächsten auch noch diesen zusätzlichen Anreiz zu bieten.

Nette Rätsel, zwei oder drei konnte ich ohne Nachschlagen beantworten .

Ortsunkundig, wie ich bin, habe ich mich von der im GPS-Gerät angezeigten nächstgelegenen Straße aus direkt durchgeschlagen. Not recommended - steilst bergauf durch die Wildnis ... an der Kapelle bin ich sicher nicht vorbeigekommen.

Den Cache zu finden, war dann mit Hilfe des Spoilerpics kein Problem.

Zurück habe ich einen wesentlich besseren Weg gefunden, bei dem ich aber ein Privatgrundstück überqueren mußte, um auf die Straße zu gelangen.
