There is not much to write about this place. The sign should be pretty much self-explanatory.

Stage 2
This stage can be found at a bearing of 85 degrees and a distance of 135 meters from stage 1.

There is a small sign on a nearby bench.
A=Number of letters of the last word on the sign on the bench.
B=Number of metal screws in the backrest of the bench.
C=Number of words in the first line of the sign on the bench.

Stage 3
New parking coordinates:
N47°1C.AA1
E015°20.(2xB)0A
Go uphill at the parking coordinates.

Final coordinates:
N47°1C.A(B-2xC)9
E015°20.(2xB)3(A+1)
GPS reception might be quite bad. Please see the spoiler picture and the note below.

Update October 2016:
Unfortunately this cache used to be located in "forbidden territory". As it turned out there is a nature protection area covering the rock face including the tunnels. Per law it's forbidden to enter this area even though there are no signs about that on site (Landesgesetz #20000492 #20001228). Because of that this cache is now hidden outside of that area and I strongly urge you not to enter any of the nine tunnels!
Stage 3 was changed to "Final", stage 4 (a few meters south) and the old final (further south) both removed.

GPS reception might be quite bad. You are now in front of a portal of one of the tunnels - there are 9 tunnels with approximately 9.400 square meters.
Tunnel #9 is a nature protection area for bats (such as Rhinolophidae, Myotis, Miniopterus schreibersi, Pipistrellus) and is also used for scientific research (measurement of earth crust movement).

A spoiler picture is available. Good luck.

Found The geocache is in good or acceptable condition. Recommended 16 November 2022 Zoidberg73 found the geocache

Listing updated - enjoy.

OC-Team Archived 01 June 2016 Opencaching.de has archived the cache

This cache has been "temporarily unavailable" for more than 12 months now; therefore it is being archived automatically. The owner may decide to maintain the cache and re-enable the listing.

Temporarily not available 24 May 2015 aj-gps has disabled the cache

As I was told that parts of this cache are located on "forbidden territory" - a nature protection area that exists by law but doesn't have any information- or prohibition signs - this cache is disabled until I'm able to relocate the final and adjust the description.
It must be coincidence that sometimes nature protection seems to be quite handy to hide the past ..

Available 20 July 2014 aj-gps has maintained the cache

Description updated - please note the changes at stage 2.

This was my most interesting cache so far, but also very sad. Amazing tunnels, and the morbid smell of (thanks god) long gone times. At stage 2 question 2 think twice about the number of benches.

Found 16 November 2008 cezanne found the geocache

The history of the satellite camp at Peggau-Hinterberg has already been known to me for a long time. I also have read about the monument at Stage 2, but I have never been there and actually did not even know the exact location of this place. I visited Stages 1 and 2 only out of interest. I did not need them to determine A up to C - these values were obvious to me due to my knowledge about the location and due being a mathematician.

Due to the bad reception, I already had troubles to find the new parking coordinates. I am still not sure whether I finally parked at the place aj-gps had in mind. In any case, I reached the road leading there in a more complicated way than necessary. In the target area the reception became even worse. I have never been in this very interesting area before. Obtaining D was not a big issue (I took the most likely value). Although I am neither lucky nor brave, I wanted to see what can be found at the location aj-gps indicates in his description, but already failed to find the location. I had no reception at all and using the compass and guessing the distance was not enough.

After exploring the area around Stage 3 for a while and ending up in a dead-end for me (I was already worried that the cache would require to climb up to some place which I would not be able to reach), I decided to go to a place with better GPS-reception. I then remembered a place which I had already seen when I was searching for the parking location and had taken a wrong turn and as soon as the GPS-reception came back, I realized that I was on the right track. So I continued and quickly found Stage 4. Interestingly, the reception was much better in the area around the cache than it was around Stage 3. In any case, I found the cache very quickly and it was easier to reach than expected.

What a pity that Alice was not with me. She would have been fascinated about the area for more than one reason.

Thank you for this well-done cache which led me to interesting places some of them unknown to me. It must have been a terrible to work in these tunnels. Hopefully something comparable will never happen again in Austria (I hesitated to write in the world as horrible things happen around the world also nowadays). In any case I am glad that there still exist cachers who are able to treat dark chapters of the history in a respectful way.
