Beschreibung    Deutsch  ·  English

The Siegfried Line has many further names: Westwall, Eisenbetonhöckerhindernis, Höckerlinie or even "Dragon Teeth" or in German Drachenzähne (see also Westwall). The round trip near Simmerath along the Siegfried Line, wood- and meadow-paths offers many nice views. The trip has a length of 8 km and takes about 2,5 – 3 hours. The sections on the Siegfried Line unfortunately are not suitable for prams and bicycles.

You can also split the cache walk into two parts:

  • Part 1: Parking, WP1, WP2,  ... WP9, Parking (5,6 km)
  • Part 2: Parking, WP9, WP10, ... Cache, Parking (3,3 km)

Parking near N 50° 36,475 E 006° 17,299.

WP1 N 50° 36,417 E 006° 17,066

Search for a dragon tooth with some way signs.
  • A = Number of  arrowheads.
  • B = First way number.
  • C = Second way number (Note: B < C)
Over WP2 N 50° 3(B+C-1),(B-1)(A+C)(B)  E 006° 1(B+C),(A-C-1)(C-B-1)(A)
you reach WP3 N 50° 3(B+C-1),(B)(B)(C-4)    E 006° 1(2*B),(B*B)(B-1)(C/2)
Here you find a dragon tooth holding a security remark in German. The last letter walks "around the corner". Which letter is it?
  •  D = Position of this letter in the alphabet
Now follow this letter and take a walk on the Siegfried Line to
WP4 N 50°  3(A),(D/2)(B*B)(B*2)  E 006° 1(2*B),(D/2)(2*C)(B-3)
Here you find a direction hint to a small point of interest (distance 70 m). Visit this POI and find there a micro cache containing the coordinates of WP5. The micro cache is located inside a 3m circle around the POI. Now walk back to the dragon teeth and go on to WP5.

WP5 (coordinates coming from the micro cache)
Here you find a sign with a "54" on it.
  • E = Number of nails holding this sign.
  • F = Half of the number of nails directly below the sign.
On the way to WP6 you pass an area where in 2005/2006 nearly all trees have been cut down. Until summer 2007 there was an information board about the project "Heidemoore: Wiederherstellung der natürlichen Moorlebensräume" (Moorland: Restoration of the natural marshy habitats). See also picture "Hinweistafel".

WP6 N 50° 3(B+C-1),(2*F-E)(E+B)(B-F) E 006° 1(2*B),(E+F)(E)(D/6-B)
Which place name appears twice on the sign? Remark: Handwritten scribblings have to be ignored.
  • G = Number of letters of this place name
Go on to WP7 in the direction of the place name which appears only once.

WP7 N 50° 3(2*B),(G-F*C)(A)(E) E 006° 1(E+F),(G-E-A)(G-B)(D/3)
Framed by two circular rows of teeth someone has played dice. He had two "fives" and many "six".
  • H = Number of six.
WP8 N 50° 3(2*B),(H-2*A)(G-E-C)(H/2) E 006° 1(E+F),(H-G-1)(C)(E)
Looking around in this area you see the work of teeth of a well known animal (don't worry, no dragons here). Which animal is meant? Take the first and the last letter of the animal's name. These letters are the same in German, Dutch and English.
  • I = Position (in the alphabet) of the first letter.
  • J = Position of the last letter.
Half the way to WP9 on the right side you see a place name suitable for a beer garden, too. Unfortunately you can't order beer here. Anyway, go on to WP9.

WP9 N 50° 3(E+F),(I+1)(J/2)(B) E 006° 1(2*B),(J-F*A)(I*C)(A)
Find three religious "toothed wheels" here.
  • K = Total number of teeth of the three wheels.
WP10 N 50° 3(2*B),(K-J-1)(G/B)(E) E 006° 1(F+E),(A)(K-H-A)(I-1)
Caution, this is a two-legged dragon looking towards the water. Count his teeth.
Remark: Since autumn 2006 the dragon is lying on his side and it is feared that he'll finally pass away. To be prepared we've hidden an additional micro cache containing some pictures showing the dragon on his better times. You'll find the micro cache at the stone building nearby.
  • L = Number of teeth pointing up.
To reach WP11 don't leave the route. Walk on a little bit and then turn off to WP11.

WP11 N 50° 3(2*B),(H/2)(L-B)(E+F)  E 006° 1(B+C),(I)(H-L-E)(I)
Here you find a phone number in the format 0xxxx/yyy-0. Calculate the one-digit sum of digits (e.g. 6543 --> 18 --> 9).
  • M = Sum of digits of xxxx
  • N = Sum of digits of yyy
Final spurt: The cache isn't far from here. Look at
Cache N 50° 3(2*B),(N-I)(F-I)(M-B)  E 006° 1(2*B),(M)(N)(J-L).

This is the first cache hidden by us. We hope you've enjoyed it and havn't had any problems finding the waypoints and solving the small puzzles.

Vielen Dank! Zwei gut getarnte Frösche bewachten die Dose. Die hatten aber heute Besuch! Kein Tausch - 14:55 -
