Beschrijving    English (Engels)

PRILIPE...
...is a village near backwaters of river Sava. These particular backwaters are special, since they have constant inflow from thermal water sources. This is the reason water temperature never drops under 15 degrees centigrade.
Some years ago people dropped tropical plant Pistia (Pistia stratiotes) into these waters. Pistia, which is a popular aquatic plant for garden ponds, started to grow vigorously in the warm water and now completely covers backwaters almost year around. With it's rapid growth and reproduction, pistia completely changed habitat of the backwater and is therefore classified as invasive alien species.
There are many tropical animals in these backwaters too! One can find tropical fish (Pseudorasbora parva, Oreochromis miloticus), red-eared turtle (Pseudoemys scripta elegans) and even Australian cancer red claw crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus). Those have been released by imprudent aquarists. Backwaters Prilipe is therefore a vivid example of completely changed habitats because of unwise human actions.
You can see "pistia field" through bushes directly from the cache site. If you had time, you could walk beside backwater and see more.

OC-Team Gearchiveerd 26. oktober 2015 mic@ has archived the cache

Please update the status not only at geocaching.com but here on opencaching.de too,
This cache is archived on geocaching.com and here on opencaching.de there is no "OC only" attribute set. The last found has been logged years ago and the owner log at geocaching.com shows that the cache should not be listed anymore. Therefore I archive this listing now here too. The listing can easily be reactivated by the owner himself if needed.
If there are questions, don´t hesitate to conttact me or the team.

found long time ago but logged only on gc.com. Heres the original Log:

When we started at home in Germany, no log was registrated online so we hoped to get our first FTF out of germany. But when we found the cache, we had to see, that three other cachers were faster One was here two days ago and two others today.

But nobody logged his found online yet, so we are just the first to log online

btw: when searching for the cache, Mrs. donweb did a wrong step and sank in the mud up to her knees [xx)]
