Narra la tradizione, che Alfonso fece rapire dai suoi sgherri Belenda, bellissima figliola di un mugnaio del mulino dell’Acquaviva. Chiusa fra le inaccessibili mura della torre, il suo destino fu un mistero per tutti. Il padre che osò mettersi alla sua ricerca, fu rinvenuto cadavere, stritolato e deforme, fra le ruote del mulino. Ciò non impedì che Mendaro, fidanzato della Belenda, guidato dall’infallibile istinto d’amore, non ne scoprisse la prigione. Abbattuta la porta a colpi di scure, si mise a cercare la donna amata. Ma tutto era avvolto dal silenzio in quel luogo e al nome di Belenda rispondeva solo l’eco. Salì tutti i piani del torrione sino a raggiungere una cavità sotterranea di cui egli riuscì con sforzi sovrumani a schiantare il cancello. Spettacolo orribile! In un angolo dell’angusta cella giaceva l’infelice fanciulla; invano egli la scosse, la strinse al suo seno. Era morta di fame.

did not find the geoacache
Ein weiterer Versuch, die ungefundene Dose ausfindig zu machen, scheiterte erneut. Es gibt eine plausible Stelle, die sich geradezu anbietet, dennoch war auch hier nichts zu finden. In jedem Fall ein lohnender Abstecher, wirklich sehenswertes altes Gemäuer, das recht einsam vor sich hin schläft. Ein Besuch ist definitiv empfehlenswert.
