Nette Runde durch Frohnleiten

Sehr nette Runde, sowohl was den Ort als auch die Begleitung angeht. Ich kannte nur die Transitstrecke von Frohnleiten, dass sich hier tatsächlich ein hübsches Städtchen verbirgt, hab ich heute erfahren dürfen.

Das war wirklich eine nette Runde durch Frohnleiten.
Einige wirklich nette Platzerl.

An der Final Location schien zuerst alles klar, aber da war dann nix. Später dann gleich persönhlich mut Gustus abgeklärt, und da war wirklich nix.

Mit der Logerlaubnis aber doch ein found.

Nice after-work bike tour from Graz to Frohnleiten together with two friends - on one of the hottest days of the year (for now).
All stages were quickly found (all in all about 20 minutes); no issues with the gps-reception at all.

Wirklich gut aufgebaut. Den Cache kann man sogar im Delirium machen. Nur diese eine Division hab ich natürlich übersehen, die ist ein echter Fallstrick für delirisierende Cacher. Die Cachelocation fand ich besonders gelungen, die hat irgendwie Flair.

Heute mit rabat zu diesem wirklich wunderschönen Cache aufgebrochen. (Danke für´s mitnehmen) Die Parkanlagen sind zu dieser Jahreszeit sehr schön!
Alle Stationen sind gut zu finden und eindeutig lösbar (obwohl für einen Gustus-Cache ungewöhnlich viel gerechnet werden muss [;)])

Heute diesen Cache gemeinsam mit Lord Harry gemacht. An dieser stelle danke an LH fürs rechnen :-)

Die Stages haben wir alle schnell gefunden und die rechnerei war auch nicht schwer.

Der Spaziergang durch Fronleiten hat uns sehr gut gefallen.

As this cache only offers a short walk and Frohnleiten is within by bike distance I had put the cache onto the list "to be visited by bicycle". Today finally the weather seemed stable enough to dare to start off for Frohnleiten.

I approached Frohnleiten via the alternative route of the R2 via Deutschfeistritz, golf club Murhof (the third golf court I passed since yesterday) and Rabenstein. Along the route I passed several places that reminded me of geocaches I have already visited. When I passed by the castle Rabenstein I noticed that the parking lot that used to be there when the castle was still owned by the company STEG has disappeared. Some strange constructions works are in process at the ruin Old Rabenstein. I have noticed these works already in April when I drove with Alice to Mixnitz. I would like to know whether these works are restauration works and whether the ruin has been bought by the new owner of the castle as well. In any case, it is a pity that the castle is not any longer accesible to the public.

When I switched on my GPS I was already very close to Stage 1. Although I have been in Frohnleiten earlier I had never realized the very central location of the rehabilitation clinic Theresienhof.

Before starting with the cache I visited the parish church on the main square and had a look at the nearby tower of St Catherine's church (Katharinenkirche) which once belonged to the parish of Adriach (as subsidiary church to one of the oldest churches and most interesting churches in Styria, the St Georgskirche, see also (visit link)
and the garden of the monastery.

I visited all stages by bicycle, but sometimes pushed it instead of riding it. All questions were easy to answer.
As this time of the year Stage 4 is indeed a very beautiful location. Although the location is not new to me, I always like to visit this area. Also today I used the possibility to have a short walk there. Moreover a very nice view is offered from there to the church and the houses along the river Mur.

After considerably less than hour I arrived at the cache location and quickly found the cache there. The cache container and its contents are in good condition. I am not ethusiastic about the hideout of the cache, but it has the advantage that the cache can be retrieved with some care also when the weather is nice and that the hideout offers room for a larger cache than a micro.

Thank you for choosing interesting stages for this cache and offering a route along which one can discover several further sights of Frohnleiten. Those who would like to prepare for their visit, might want to consult this weg page (visit link) (unfortunately available in German only) - the info board in Frohnleiten does not offer much information on the points of interest. However at most sights signn with some explanations (again only in German) can be found.

After having found the cache, I did not take a break as black clouds had appeared meanwhile on the sky. So I decided to take the shorter and less sportive route back to Graz via Ungerdorf, Schrauding and Peggau. Sometimes it was drizzling - the weather was worst while I was in the region of Gratkorn. Back in Graz the sun was shining brightly in the same way as when I had left for this cache.

Due to the fact that I visited this cache by bicycle it was a nice experience. I would not have liked to go by car to Frohnleiten to go there for a walk which is shorter than the drive from my home to Frohnleiten.

Overall my tour was about 70 km long and it was my longest bicycle tour in this season.
