On our two-day excursion to the north, we took the opportunity to realise our plan to open a cache which is basically a library - only books as trades. Initially we wanted to plant it somewhere here in the south near Stuttgart, but after questioning a database with placenames, we found a place which fits nicely, as we think: The cache is near a farm called "Lesenbuechen".

The size of the cache should be appropriate for 10-20 books and paperbacks. Large formats might not fit in, though. Initial contens are:
"Abenteuer eines Reisenden" by I. Calvino, "Schafsjagd" by H. Murakami, "Per Anhalter ..." by D. Adams, "Last Exit to Brooklyn", by H. Selby, "Der Engel mit den schwarzen Fluegeln" by Hannesfahr, "Harry Potter and the sorcerers stone" by J. Rowling, "The bridges of Madison County" by Waller, Polyglott Thailand, "Dorian Gray" by O. Wilde. Of course there is also a logbook with pens. You are enouraged to give your impressions on the books you add.

The area turned out to be very scenic: Small roads, lots of nature, spectacular views. If you can spare the time, you might want to do some hikes or tour around with your bicycle. A nice place to stay and eat is "Alte Muehle" in Wipperfuerth, Tel. 02267-88690 (reservation needed, small place). If you don't get a room, try "Neyehotel" which is close by, larger and not so expensive (Tel. 02267-88620).

Update 24 April 2003: The cache was disabled by the owner of the property where it was placed. Bobi Bohne moved the cache to a new location, it's now near a village called "Buch" :-)

Hier war ich heute gleich zwei Mal.
Zunächst um kurz nach 18 Uhr. Vor dem geplanten Nachtcache "nebenan" hatte ich noch etwas Zeit und fuhr hier schnell vorbei. Die Koordinaten passen perfekt, die Dose war schnell gefunden.

Gestaunt habe ich über die Größe, getauscht habe ich aber nichts.

Lustigerweise begleitete mich seit kurz hinter meinem Parkplatz ein großer (zum Glück freundlich gestimmter) Hund. Bis zum Cache. Während ich loggte, schnüffelte er an mir, dem Cache und auch sonst allem herum, was sich in der Nähe befand. Weder vom Herrchen noch vom Frauchen eine Spur. Auf dem Rückweg begleitete er mich dann auch wieder - bis zum Auto. Er schien sichtlich enttäuscht, dass ich ihn nicht mit ins Auto packe. Gerne hätte ich den aufgeweckten Kerl mitgenommen...

Später am Abend erzählte ich Olaf (kirby27b) beim Nachtcachen von meinem Aufwärmcache. Natürlich begleitete ich ihn dann etwa um 21 Uhr noch zum Büchercache.

Welche ein idyllisch gelegener Ort, wir glaubten uns mitten im Allgäu. Wieder mal einen sehr alter Cache in Deutschland besucht.

Seit Anbeginn unserer Cacherzeit steht dieser Cache auf unserer Liste. Nie waren wir nah oder motiviert genug. Heute musste es aber sein - seit Ewigkeiten liegt bei mir ein bookcrossing-buch herum. Ich fand es seinerzeit in einem Cache, schaffte es aber nicht, es ganz zu lesen. Es ist nicht mein Ding. Ich kam über die ersten 40 Seiten nicht ehrlich hinaus. Selbst querlesen der nächsten 40 brachte keinen Spaß. Ist eben ein Buch für Frauen. Also, holde Weiblichkeit, hier liegt ein Buch für Euch.
